What does this fault code mean?
The lamps this code refers to depend on the model. On the V70 and XC70 it is the control signal to the cargo compartment lighting, and on the XC90 the control signal to the third-row reading lamps. The code is set when the signal is too low. The cause is either a short to ground in the supply wire or a loose connection in it.
Possible causes
- The supply cable to the cargo compartment lighting or the third-row reading lamps is short-circuited to ground
- Loose connection in the supply cable to the cargo compartment lighting or the third-row reading lamps
What you can do
- 1Check that the lamp is intact.
- 2Check the connectors to the upper electronic module and the lamp for contact resistance and oxidation.
- 3Read off the code, clear it and check whether it returns.
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the supply wire to the lamp has no contact with ground (the bodywork).
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop check the wire and replace it if a fault is found.
Symptoms you may notice2
- The cargo compartment lighting does not work
- The interior lighting does not work
What the fault can affect1
- The cargo compartment lighting or the third-row reading lamps are switched off
