System

Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsS60 (2001–2009), S80 (1999–2006), V70 (2000–2008), V70 XC / XC70 (2001–2007), XC90 (2003–)
What does this fault code mean?
The upper electronic module (UEM) should receive signals from all four approved tyre pressure sensors. The code is set when it gets a signal from fewer than four of them during any driving cycle. The cause can be a wheel without a sensor, a sensor not intended for the car, a faulty sensor, or a receiver that is not working.
Possible causes
- A rim without a tyre pressure sensor has been fitted
- A rim carrying a sensor meant for another model has been fitted, so the sensor cannot talk to the receiver
- Defective tyre pressure sensor
- The receiver is not working
What you can do
- 1Check that the receiver works: press the lock and unlock button on the remote control and see that the car locks and unlocks.
- 2Check that every rim has a tyre pressure sensor fitted. If a sensor is missing or does not suit the car, have a workshop fit the correct one.
- 3Have a workshop activate the sensors with diagnostic equipment and check that each wheel shows its own ID number.
- 4Clear the code and check whether it comes back.
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop replace the tyre pressure sensor that does not respond.
Symptoms you may notice2
- Message in the display
- The tyre pressure monitoring warning lamp lights or behaves abnormally
