UEM-E003 - Configuration fault. Faulty configuration
System
Upper Electronic Module (UEM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsS60 (2001–2009), S80 (1999–2006), V70 (2000–2008), V70 XC / XC70 (2001–2007), XC90 (2003–)
What does this fault code mean?
The upper electronic module (UEM) compares its own configuration with the one the central electronic module (CEM) broadcasts on the data network, and they do not match. The code is also set if communication with the central electronic module is lost. With a configuration mismatch the module stops taking part in normal communication but still responds to diagnostics.
Possible causes
- A roof module from another car, such as a used unit with different software or hardware
- Open circuit on the data network (CAN) between the roof module and the central electronic module
What you can do
- 1Find out whether the roof module has recently been replaced – a used module must be programmed and configured for this specific car
- 2Read communication codes in the central electronic module and deal with them first
- 3Check the roof module connector for poor contact and moisture, for example after a sunroof or windscreen leak
- 4Have a workshop program or configure the module with diagnostic equipment, or diagnose the data network
Symptoms you may notice4
- The remote control does not work
- Interior lighting does not work
- The electric sunroof and rain sensor do not work
- The alarm does not work
