The CEM (Central Electronic Module) is the primary body computer in your Volvo. It manages power distribution, lighting, wipers, central locking, and recognizes your factory keys via the immobilizer.

A used replacement from a donor car is locked to the original vehicle. If plugged in directly, the car will not crank. You provide a donor unit and send both to us – our 1:1 cloning moves all unique data so the replacement starts right up.

In rare cases, internal memory registers may be corrupted from jump-starts or voltage spikes. A key diagnostic confirmation in diagnostic tools (VIDA/Autel) is reading CEM Live Data: if 0 programmed keys are reported, the memory is corrupted. If unrecoverable, we set the replacement unit to factory state for authorized dealer programming.
