Technical Description
P012B is a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) that indicates a range or performance issue with the Turbocharger/Supercharger Inlet Pressure (TCIP) sensor circuit, specifically labeled as 'B'. The engine control unit (ECU) monitors the air pressure before it enters the turbocharger or supercharger. If the signal voltage provided by the sensor does not correlate with other pressure sensors (MAP/BARO) under specific operating conditions or during key-on self-tests, the ECU determines the signal is irrational and triggers the code.
Possible Causes
Defective Turbocharger Inlet Pressure (TCIP) sensor
Intake air leak or damaged induction hose between air filter and turbocharger
High resistance or corrosion in the sensor electrical connector
Faulty MAP or Barometric pressure sensor causing irrational correlation
Wiring harness damage (chafing or short to ground)

Mechanic's Tip
Before replacing expensive components, always double-check wiring and connections. 80% of all sensor faults are actually due to corroded contacts or broken wires.
