Technical Description
P02D3 is stored when the Engine Control Module (ECM) reaches its maximum adaptation limit for the fuel injector on cylinder 4. In Common Rail systems, the ECM monitors crankshaft acceleration to calibrate individual injector flow (IQA/IMA). If the ECM has to increase the injector's energized time (PWM/Duty cycle) to its upper threshold without achieving the desired combustion energy, this code is triggered. It points towards a lean condition, a clogged injector, or excessive internal leakage (back-leak) in the injector.
Possible Causes
Clogged or contaminated fuel injector (Cylinder 4)
Excessive fuel injector back-leak (internal wear)
Air leak in the intake manifold (affecting cylinder balance)
Faulty fuel rail pressure sensor or restricted fuel supply

Mechanic's Tip
Before replacing expensive components, always double-check wiring and connections. 80% of all sensor faults are actually due to corroded contacts or broken wires.
