Technical Description
P0193 is a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) for 'Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Circuit High Input'. It indicates that the Engine Control Module (ECM) has detected a voltage signal from the Fuel Rail Pressure (FRP) sensor that is higher than the calibrated upper limit (typically above 4.5-4.8V). The FRP sensor is a 3-wire sensor (5V Ref, Signal, Ground). A high signal usually points toward an open circuit in the ground wire or a short to the 5V reference or battery voltage in the signal wire. This failure disables closed-loop fuel pressure control.
Possible Causes
Faulty Fuel Rail Pressure (FRP) sensor (internal short)
Open circuit in the sensor ground wire
Short to voltage on the signal wire
Corroded pins in the ECM connector

Mechanic's Tip
Before replacing expensive components, always double-check wiring and connections. 80% of all sensor faults are actually due to corroded contacts or broken wires.
