    P2293 - Fuel Pressure Regulator 2 Performance

Related:Fuel Pressure Regulator 2 Performance, Wiring harness and connectors, Control Module (ECM/PCM)

    System

    Powertrain (Engine & Gearbox)

    Technical Description

The control module has detected a fault in the Fuel Pressure Regulator 2 Performance (P2293).

    Oscilloscope Waveform Analysis

    100 ms/div, 1 V/div
Capture the Fuel Pressure Regulator 2 Performance signal through a slow sweep of its operating range. The trace must be smooth with no dropouts to 0 V or 5 V.

    Possible Causes

    1

Fuel Pressure Regulator 2 Performance is electrically operational but performing outside calibrated tolerance

    2

Chafed or pinched wiring harness along the signal path to Fuel Pressure Regulator 2 Performance

    3

Poor ground connection or excessive voltage drop (> 0.1 V) at the ground point for Fuel Pressure Regulator 2 Performance

    4

Defective internal output driver or reference circuit in the control module for Fuel Pressure Regulator 2 Performance

    Symptoms

    4
Subsystem operating efficiency falls below calibrated threshold
    Check Engine Light (MIL) illuminated
    Possible drivability or power reduction
Risk of failing an emissions inspection

    Recommended Solution

    1

Verify underlying mechanical operation and rule out blockage, vacuum leaks, or mechanical binding.

    2

Verify loaded supply voltage and harness terminal pins at Fuel Pressure Regulator 2 Performance.

    3

Check circuit continuity and ground-side voltage drop (< 0.05 V) for Fuel Pressure Regulator 2 Performance.

    4

Unplug the sensor:the signal must swing to a known rail. Replace the sensor or repair the wiring based on the result.

    Mechanic's Tip

Always run a loaded voltage-drop test on the sensor ground with ignition ON. A drop above 0.1 V shifts the whole signal and tricks the module into setting sensor codes on a good sensor.
