Technical Description
P2453 is stored when the Engine Control Unit (ECU) detects a performance or range issue with the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) differential pressure sensor 'A'. The sensor monitors the pressure drop across the DPF to estimate soot accumulation. If the signal voltage remains static, deviates from the modeled map value, or shows erratic behavior inconsistent with exhaust flow, the ECU triggers this code. This fault inhibits DPF regeneration and typically forces the vehicle into limp-mode to prevent engine damage from excessive exhaust backpressure.

Clogged, cracked, or leaking pressure hoses between the DPF and the sensor
Faulty DPF differential pressure sensor (internal failure)
Electrical connection issues or oxidized terminals at the sensor
Severely Restricted/Clogged particulate filter (physical damage)

Recommended Solution
- Visual Inspection: Check rubber hoses between DPF and sensor for cracks, moisture, or heat damage. Ensure they are not clogged.
- Electrical Testing: Verify 5V reference voltage and ground at the sensor connector using a multimeter. Check signal voltage with Ignition On / Engine Off (typically around 0.5V).
- Component Test: Use a scan tool to monitor live data for Differential Pressure in hPa/mbar. At idle, it should be 3-10 mbar; it should rise linearly with RPM.
- Replacement: If hoses are intact and wiring is okay, replace the DPF pressure sensor. Post-replacement adaptation/relearn is often required using an OEM-level scan tool.
