P2463 is a generic diagnostic trouble code (DTC) indicating that the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) soot accumulation has reached a level that the ECM/PCM considers excessive. This is typically determined by monitoring the DPF differential pressure sensor. When the pressure drop across the filter exceeds factory specifications, the ECU triggers this code. It often puts the vehicle into 'Limp Home Mode' to protect the engine and exhaust components from excessive backpressure and potential thermal damage during failed regeneration attempts.
