    P2523 - A/C Request 'B' Circuit Low

Related:A/C Request 'B' Circuit Low, Wiring harness and connectors, Control Module (ECM/PCM)

    System

    Powertrain (Engine & Gearbox)

    Technical Description

The control module has detected a fault in the A/C Request 'B' Circuit Low (P2523). The signal is below the lower threshold, typically from a short to ground or an internally shorted sensor.

    At module supply pins

    A/C Request 'B' Circuit Low – Ignition-Switched SupplyVoltage (V)
    Nominal Target:11.8 - 14.4 V

    Ignition ON

A/C Request 'B' Circuit Low – Ground Connections Voltage DropVoltage (V)
    Nominal Target:< 0.1 V per ground point

    Under load to battery negative

    A/C Request 'B' Circuit Low – 5 V Reference OutputsVoltage (V)

    Oscilloscope Waveform Analysis

    500 ms/div, 5 V/div
Log module supply voltage during cranking and load changes. It must not fall below 9.5 V on start or carry high-frequency noise that disturbs the processor.

    Possible Causes

    1

Short to ground on the signal wire or an internal short circuit within A/C Request 'B' Circuit Low

    2

Channel B:Verify dedicated wiring pins and signal pair for circuit B against the schematic.

    3

Chafed or pinched wiring harness along the signal path to A/C Request 'B' Circuit Low

    4

Poor ground connection or excessive voltage drop (> 0.1 V) at the ground point for A/C Request 'B' Circuit Low

    5

Defective internal output driver or reference circuit in the control module for A/C Request 'B' Circuit Low

    Symptoms

    4
Sensor signal is pegged at the lower voltage limit (0 V / ground)
    Check Engine Light (MIL) illuminated
    Possible drivability or power reduction
Risk of failing an emissions inspection

    Recommended Solution

    1

Compare signal voltage and resistance between circuit B and companion circuit A at module connector.

    2

Measure signal wire resistance to chassis ground with connector unplugged (must exceed 10 kΩ; low reading confirms short to ground).

    3

Verify loaded supply voltage and harness terminal pins at A/C Request 'B' Circuit Low.

    4

Check circuit continuity and ground-side voltage drop (< 0.05 V) for A/C Request 'B' Circuit Low.

    5

Inspect module enclosure and connector headers for water ingress, fretting corrosion, or PCB thermal damage.

    Mechanic's Tip

When facing a 5V reference supply DTC, never replace the module first. A shorted external sensor (such as A/C pressure or EGR position) drags down the shared 5V internal rail. Unplug sensors one by one until 5V recovers.
