What does this fault code mean?
The CEM has registered an internal fault in its software, but the fault has only occurred temporarily. It can no longer be present. The instruments, instrument lighting and turn signals may have been affected, and the car may go into limp-home mode.
Possible causes
- A fault in the control module software
What you can do
- 1Switch the ignition off, wait a moment and switch it on again. Check that the gauges and turn signals work
- 2Check the CEM fuse. If it has blown, replace it once. If it blows again, use a multimeter to check the wire after it has no contact with ground
- 3Drive the car for a while and see whether the code returns. If it does, read the fault codes with a diagnostic tool. Software is updated only by a workshop
- 4Read the fault codes with a diagnostic tool if you have one. If reprogramming is needed, a workshop does it
- 5After the work, clear the code and check that it does not return
