What does this fault code mean?
The steering wheel angle sensor has an internal fault: the signals from the code wheel do not form the expected pattern. The stability control function is blocked while the fault is present. The sensor sits under the contact reel and is replaced together with it. On cars built before early October 2010 the sensor software may also need updating.
Possible causes
- Fault inside the steering wheel angle sensor
What you can do
- 1On cars built before early October 2010, a workshop should update the sensor control module software
- 2Road test at higher speed with full lock both ways: if no anti-spin lamp or service message appears, the contact reel should be replaced
- 3The counters for the fault status show whether the fault recurs: many incorrect driving cycles point to a recurring fault, few to a temporary one
- 4If the fault remains after the contact reel with the angle sensor has been replaced, have a workshop replace the steering wheel module (SWM)
- 5The fault affects the stability system, so have a workshop repair it promptly
Symptoms you may notice1
- Anti-spin warning lamp is on
What the fault can affect1
- Stability function blocked
