Technical Description
P0206 indicates that the Engine Control Module (ECM) has detected a fault in the fuel injector control circuit for cylinder 6. The ECM monitors the continuity and resistance of the injector circuit by observing the voltage drop across the driver. When the injector is commanded 'OFF', the ECM expects to see battery voltage (B+) on the signal line. If the pulse width modulation (PWM) or current draw is outside predefined limits, or if internal resistance (typically 10-16 Ohms) is incorrect, the code is stored. This will often trigger a misfire and may cause the ECM to enter a 'Limp Mode' to protect the catalytic converter.
Possible Causes
Faulty fuel injector for cylinder 6 (internal open circuit or shorted coil)
Wiring issues such as corrosion in the connector or chafed wires shorting to ground
Poor connection at the ECU terminal or issues with the power supply relay
Internal driver failure within the Engine Control Unit (ECU)

Mechanic's Tip
Before replacing expensive components, always double-check wiring and connections. 80% of all sensor faults are actually due to corroded contacts or broken wires.
