Technical Description
DTC C0157 indicates an electrical or operational malfunction in the Traction Control System (TCS) Throttle Control / Torque Reduction Request circuit between the Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) and the Powertrain Control Module (PCM/ECM). When wheel slip is detected, the EBCM commands throttle reduction via a dedicated PWM signal or serial hardware interface. If the EBCM detects an open circuit, short to ground, short to reference voltage, or out-of-range PWM duty cycle response from the ECM, C0157 is logged and stability/traction control features are disabled for safety.
Possible Causes
1. Skadat kablage, kabelbrott eller oxiderade terminaler i kabelhärvan mellan EBCM och ECM/PCM.
2. Internt utgångsstegsfel (drivsteg/pull-up) i EBCM eller ingångskrets i ECM.
3. Dålig chassijord eller spänningsfall vid ABS/ESP-hydraulaggregatets kontaktdon.
4. Inkompatibel mjukvarukonfiguration eller felaktigt kalibrerad spjällhusstyrning/gasspjällsenhet.

Mechanic's Tip
Before replacing expensive components, always double-check wiring and connections. 80% of all sensor faults are actually due to corroded contacts or broken wires.
