Technical Description
DTC C0163 is triggered when the Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) detects an open circuit, short circuit, or plausibility failure within the brake switch signal circuit. The module continuously evaluates redundant dual-circuit switch states (Normally Open vs. Normally Closed) and cross-references them against hydraulic line pressure and wheel speed signals. A mismatch between physical brake application and digital logic states prompts the system to disable TCS/ESP functions for safety.
Possible Causes
1. Defekt, feljusterad eller mekaniskt kärvande bromsljuskontakt (slitage i interna kontaktbleck)
2. Oxidation, kabelbrott eller spänningsfall i kablage/kontaktdon mellan bromskontakt och EBCM
3. Eftermonterade LED-bromslampor eller defekt dragkrokskablage som orsakar parasitströmmar/felaktig kretsimpedans
4. Internt hårdvarufel i ABS/EBCM-styrdonet
