Technical Description
DTC C0196 is triggered by the Electronic Brake/Stability Control Module (EBCM/ESP) when the yaw rate sensor circuit reports an out-of-range signal, erratic noise, plausibility mismatch (compared to steering angle and wheel speeds), or communication failure. The sensor utilizes a micromachined vibrating structure (MEMS) to calculate angular velocity around the vertical axis. The fault is typically caused by internal sensor drift, circuit open/short, reference voltage instability, or loss of zero-point calibration.
Possible Causes
2. Internt hårdvarufel/drift i girkraftssensorns MEMS-element.
5. Mjukvaru- eller hårdvarufel i ESP/ABS-styrenheten (EBCM).

Mechanic's Tip
Before replacing expensive components, always double-check wiring and connections. 80% of all sensor faults are actually due to corroded contacts or broken wires.
