Technical Description
P002B is stored when the Engine Control Module (ECM) detects a low voltage condition in the exhaust camshaft profile control circuit for Bank 2. This circuit manages the switching between different camshaft lobe profiles (variable valve lift). The ECM monitors the feedback or the current draw of the actuator/solenoid. If the voltage remains below a calibrated threshold when it should be high, or if there is a short to ground, this code triggers. This affects gas exchange efficiency and emissions.
Possible Causes
Short to ground in the wiring harness for the camshaft actuator (Bank 2)
Faulty camshaft profile control actuator/solenoid
Corroded or loose pins in the electrical connector
Internal Engine Control Module (ECM) failure

Mechanic's Tip
Before replacing expensive components, always double-check wiring and connections. 80% of all sensor faults are actually due to corroded contacts or broken wires.
