Technical Description
P00B8 is set when the Engine Control Unit (ECU) detects an implausible correlation between the Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor and the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor for Bank 1. The ECU monitors these sensors simultaneously to cross-verify engine load data. If the calculated air mass from the MAP sensor deviates significantly from the measured MAF value, the diagnostic logic triggers this code. This often results in the vehicle entering a reduced power mode (Limp Mode) to prevent incorrect air-fuel ratios and potential engine damage.
Possible Causes
Intake air leak after the MAF sensor (e.g., cracked intake boot or leaking intercooler).
Dirty or faulty MAF sensor (often caused by oil residue).
Faulty MAP sensor or carbon buildup in the MAP sensor port.
EGR valve stuck open.
Wiring harness issues or poor ground connections to the sensors.

Mechanic's Tip
Before replacing expensive components, always double-check wiring and connections. 80% of all sensor faults are actually due to corroded contacts or broken wires.
