Technical Description
P0108 is set when the Engine Control Unit (ECU) detects a voltage from the Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor that is higher than the expected range, typically exceeding 4.5–4.8 Volts for a predefined period. The MAP sensor measures the pressure within the intake manifold and converts it into a voltage signal. A high voltage signal is interpreted by the ECU as high pressure (low vacuum), which normally occurs under wide-open throttle conditions. If this high signal persists during idle or low load, the ECU triggers the code and often enters 'Limp Home' mode as it cannot accurately calculate fuel delivery or ignition timing.

Faulty MAP sensor (internal short to 5V reference)
Wiring issue (short to voltage in the signal circuit)
Open circuit in the sensor ground wire
Defective Engine Control Unit (ECU) or restricted vacuum line (on older systems using hoses)

Recommended Solution
- Visual Inspection: Check the MAP sensor connector for corrosion or loose pins. Ensure any vacuum hoses are intact and not kinked.
- Measurement (Multimeter): Check for a 5V reference voltage and a solid ground. Measure the signal wire; with key on, engine off, it should be around 4.0-4.7V. If the signal is stuck at 5V, investigate the ground circuit.
- Advanced Diagnosis: Use a scan tool to monitor MAP sensor Live Data. The value should drop significantly once the engine starts and intake vacuum increases.
- Action: If wiring and 5V reference are OK, but the signal remains statically high, replace the MAP sensor.
