Technical Description
P0132 is a generic OBD-II code indicating that the Oxygen (O2) sensor circuit for Bank 1, Sensor 1 has high voltage. This occurs when the ECU detects that the O2 sensor voltage remains above the threshold (typically 0.9V - 1.2V) for an extended period. Under normal operation, the sensor should oscillate rapidly between 0.1V and 0.9V. A sustained high voltage signals either a constant rich air-fuel mixture or a circuit malfunction. The ECU will default to Open Loop mode, using pre-set fuel maps instead of real-time sensor feedback.
Possible Causes
Faulty front O2 sensor (internal short circuit)
Wiring issues (short to voltage in the signal circuit)
Faulty fuel pressure regulator or leaking fuel injectors
Corrupt ECU software or internal ECU failure

Mechanic's Tip
Before replacing expensive components, always double-check wiring and connections. 80% of all sensor faults are actually due to corroded contacts or broken wires.
