Technical Description
P013B is stored when the Engine Control Unit (ECU) detects that the downstream O2 sensor (Bank 1, Sensor 2) is reacting too slowly when transitioning from a rich to a lean fuel state. This diagnostic typically runs during deceleration fuel cut-off events. The downstream sensor's role is primarily to monitor catalytic converter efficiency. If the voltage transition takes longer than the calibrated threshold (e.g., exceeding 100-300ms), the ECU flags the sensor as sluggish or degraded.
Possible Causes
Faulty or fouled O2 sensor (Bank 1, Sensor 2)
Exhaust leak near the sensor location
Wiring issues or high resistance in the signal circuit
Sensor contamination (oil or coolant consumption)
Internal ECU failure

Mechanic's Tip
Before replacing expensive components, always double-check wiring and connections. 80% of all sensor faults are actually due to corroded contacts or broken wires.
