Technical Description
P0160 diagnostic trouble code (DTC) indicates that the Engine Control Module (ECM) has detected a lack of activity from the downstream oxygen (O2) sensor on Bank 2. Under normal operating conditions, the sensor should oscillate or change voltage based on exhaust oxygen content. If the ECM detects that the sensor voltage remains stationary (typically at a bias voltage of approx. 0.45V) for a calibrated period of time after the sensor should have reached operating temperature, P0160 is stored. This sensor is primarily used to monitor catalytic converter efficiency.
Possible Causes
Faulty Oxygen (O2) Sensor (Bank 2, Sensor 2)
Open or short circuit in the wiring harness
Corroded or loose electrical connectors
Faulty Engine Control Module (ECM) or software issue

Mechanic's Tip
Before replacing expensive components, always double-check wiring and connections. 80% of all sensor faults are actually due to corroded contacts or broken wires.
