Technical Description
The P018C code is stored when the Engine Control Module (ECM) detects that the signal from Fuel Pressure Sensor 'B' is below the minimum calibrated limit (typically below 0.2V or 0.5V). This sensor monitors fuel pressure to provide feedback for the fuel pump pulse width modulation (PWM) control. A 'low circuit' condition usually indicates a short to ground in the signal wire, a loss of reference voltage, or an internal sensor failure. This can trigger limp mode to prevent engine damage from lean conditions.
Possible Causes
Short to ground in the signal circuit or a faulty fuel pressure sensor
Loss of 5V reference voltage to the sensor
Corrosion or poor connection in the sensor connector
Faulty Engine Control Module (ECM) or software calibration error

Mechanic's Tip
Before replacing expensive components, always double-check wiring and connections. 80% of all sensor faults are actually due to corroded contacts or broken wires.
