P020B is a performance-related diagnostic trouble code (DTC) indicating that the Engine Control Module (ECM) has detected an out-of-range value for the fuel injection timing of cylinder 2. Unlike a circuit fault, this code suggests that the injector's mechanical response or the actual start of injection (SOI) does not align with the commanded values. The ECM monitors crankshaft speed fluctuations (misfire monitor logic) to determine if the combustion event occurred as expected. Timing deviations can result from internal injector wear, fuel quality issues, or incorrect feedback from the fuel pressure or timing sensors.
