Technical Description
P0202 is a standard OBD-II trouble code indicating that the Engine Control Module (ECM) has detected a malfunction in the fuel injector control circuit for cylinder 2. The ECM monitors the injector circuit by observing the voltage drop. When the injector is not commanded 'on', the ECM expects to see battery voltage on the signal wire. If the ECM ground-side driver is activated and the expected current draw or voltage pulse-width modulation (PWM) deviates from the calibrated window, the fault is registered. This code focuses on the electrical continuity and resistance of the circuit.
Possible Causes
Faulty fuel injector for cylinder 2 (internal open or short circuit in the solenoid coil)
Wiring issues such as chafed wires or corrosion in the injector connector
Poor electrical connection or pin fitment issues in the main harness
Failed injector driver circuit within the Engine Control Unit (ECU)

Mechanic's Tip
Before replacing expensive components, always double-check wiring and connections. 80% of all sensor faults are actually due to corroded contacts or broken wires.
