Technical Description
P0262 indicates that the Engine Control Module (ECM) has detected a high voltage condition in the fuel injector control circuit for cylinder 1. The ECM monitors the pulse width modulated (PWM) signal; if the voltage remains high when it should be pulled low (grounded), or exceeds predefined thresholds, the code is set. This usually points to a short to voltage in the wiring harness or a dry/failed solenoid coil within the injector itself.
Possible Causes
Short to voltage in the fuel injector wiring harness.
Faulty fuel injector (internal short or failed solenoid coil).
Corroded or loose electrical connector at the injector.
Internal failure of the Engine Control Module (ECM).

Mechanic's Tip
Before replacing expensive components, always double-check wiring and connections. 80% of all sensor faults are actually due to corroded contacts or broken wires.
