Technical Description
P0201 is a generic powertrain code which indicates that the Engine Control Unit (ECU) has detected a malfunction in the injector control circuit for cylinder 1. The ECU monitors the injector driver circuit for specific voltage patterns (Inductive kick). If the ECU detects an out-of-range resistance, an open circuit, or a short to ground/power on the signal line, the P0201 code will trigger. This is an electrical circuit fault, meaning the ECU cannot effectively pulse the injector to deliver fuel.
Possible Causes
Faulty fuel injector for cylinder 1 (internal coil failure)
Damaged wiring harness or corrosion in the injector connector
Poor connection at the ECU main harness
Failed injector driver circuit inside the ECU

Mechanic's Tip
Before replacing expensive components, always double-check wiring and connections. 80% of all sensor faults are actually due to corroded contacts or broken wires.
