Technical Description
P0211 is a generic diagnostic trouble code (DTC) that indicates a malfunction in the fuel injector circuit for cylinder 11. The PCM monitors the continuity and resistance of the injector circuit. If the PCM detects a voltage or resistance that is outside of the calibrated range (too high or too low), the code is set. This usually involves the PCM's driver circuit which pulses the injector to ground. If the driver detects an improper return voltage when the injector is turned off, or improper current draw when turned on, P0211 is stored. This typically affects high-cylinder count engines (V12).

Failed injector driver circuit within the PCM (ECU)
Symptoms
Recommended Solution
- Visual Inspection: Check the wiring harness to cylinder 11 for fraying, melted insulation, or rodent damage. Ensure the connector is securely seated.
- Resistance Test (Ohm): Disconnect the injector and measure the resistance across the terminals. Normal values are usually 12-16 Ohms for high-impedance injectors. Infinite resistance indicates an open circuit; 0 Ohms indicates a short.
- Functional Check: Use a 'Noid light' to verify that the PCM is sending ground pulses to the injector. If the light flashes, the circuit from the PCM is working, pointing to a mechanical or internal injector failure.
- Scope Test: Use an oscilloscope to view the injector waveform (voltage and current) to detect intermittent driver issues or sticking pintles.
- Replacement: Replace the fuel injector if resistance is out of spec, or repair the wiring harness as needed.
