Technical Description
P0214 is a generic OBD-II diagnostic trouble code (DTC) indicating that the Engine Control Module (ECM) has detected a malfunction in the control circuit of the cold start injector 2. This device is an auxiliary fuel injector used to provide additional fuel enrichment during low-temperature engine starts. The ECM monitors the circuit for resistance, open circuits, or shorted conditions. If the feedback voltage or current draw deviates from the calibrated window (typically when the injector solenoid is activated but fails to respond electrically), the P0214 code is stored.
Possible Causes
Faulty cold start injector (internal short or open coil)
Wiring harness damage or corrosion in the electrical connector
Faulty cold start system relay
Internal Engine Control Unit (ECU) malfunction
