Technical Description
OBD-II fault code P0229 is stored when the Engine Control Module (ECM) detects an intermittent signal from the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) or Accelerator Pedal Position (APP) sensor circuit designated as 'C'. Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) systems rely on multiple sensor inputs for redundancy. If the signal voltage from circuit 'C' deviates from the expected correlation or fluctuates rapidly in a way that suggests a loose connection or sensor failure, the ECM will flag the code. This often triggers a failsafe or 'Limp mode' to ensure vehicle safety by restricting engine output.
