Technical Description
P0248 is set when the Engine Control Module (ECM) detects a range or performance issue within the turbocharger wastegate solenoid 'B' control circuit. Solenoid 'B' is used to regulate the wastegate actuator, which manages boost pressure. If the ECM commands a specific duty cycle and the feedback or manifold pressure sensor (MAP) readings do not correlate within the calibrated window, this code is stored. This often triggers a 'Limp Home' mode to prevent engine damage from overboost conditions.
Possible Causes
Faulty wastegate solenoid (internal electrical or mechanical failure)
Vacuum hose leaks or damaged pressure lines to the solenoid
Damaged wiring harness or corroded connectors (high resistance)
Failed turbocharger (mechanically seized wastegate flap)

Mechanic's Tip
Before replacing expensive components, always double-check wiring and connections. 80% of all sensor faults are actually due to corroded contacts or broken wires.
