Technical Description
P025E is a generic OBD-II diagnostic trouble code indicating that the Engine Control Unit (ECU) has detected an intermittent or erratic signal within the fuel pump module 'B' control circuit. Modern vehicles utilize Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) to regulate fuel pump speed and pressure based on engine load. If the signal duty cycle deviates from commanded values or if the feedback loop is unstable, the ECU logs this code. This instability can cause fuel pressure oscillations, affecting engine performance and emissions. The vehicle may enter a limp-home mode to prevent damage to high-pressure fuel system components.
Possible Causes
Loose connections or oxidized terminals in the fuel pump driver module (FPDM) harness
Failing fuel pump driver module (FPDM)
Faulty fuel pump (mechanical wear causing electrical instability)
Damaged wiring harness chafing against ground (intermittent short)

Mechanic's Tip
Before replacing expensive components, always double-check wiring and connections. 80% of all sensor faults are actually due to corroded contacts or broken wires.
