Technical Description
P0276 indicates that the Engine Control Module (ECM) has detected an unexpectedly low voltage condition in the control circuit for the fuel injector of cylinder number 6. The fuel injector is a solenoid valve opened by the ECM by grounding the circuit (Low Side Control). The ECM monitors the voltage drop across the power supply and the solenoid. If the voltage remains low when the injector should be closed, or if current draw is out of range, the ECM interprets this as a short to ground or a defective solenoid within the power feed chain. Peak-and-hold current monitoring is used to verify injector performance.
Possible Causes
Faulty fuel injector (internal short in solenoid)
Damaged wiring harness (short to ground on signal/supply wire)
Poor electrical connection or corrosion at the injector connector
Internal Engine Control Module (ECM/PCM) fault

Mechanic's Tip
Before replacing expensive components, always double-check wiring and connections. 80% of all sensor faults are actually due to corroded contacts or broken wires.
