Technical Description
P027E is a generic diagnostic trouble code indicating that the Engine Control Module (ECM) has detected a high voltage condition in the fuel pump module 'B' control circuit. Many fuel systems utilize a Fuel Pump Power Module (FPPM) or Fuel Pump Control Module (FPCM) to regulate fuel delivery via PWM signals. If the control circuit feedback demonstrates a voltage level higher than the commanded threshold (often a short to power or an internal module failure), P027E is stored. This may cause the vehicle to enter limp-home mode to prevent mechanical damage or excessive fuel rail pressure.
Possible Causes
Short to voltage in the wiring harness between the ECM and the Fuel Pump Control Module
Faulty Fuel Pump Control Module (FPCM/FPPM)
Faulty fuel pump causing high current draw or voltage feedback
Internal Engine Control Module (ECM) failure

Mechanic's Tip
Before replacing expensive components, always double-check wiring and connections. 80% of all sensor faults are actually due to corroded contacts or broken wires.
