Technical Description
P0282 is a generic OBD-II diagnostic trouble code indicating that the Engine Control Module (ECM) has detected a lower than expected voltage in the fuel injector control circuit for cylinder number 8. The injector is a solenoid valve controlled by the ECM via ground-side switching. If the ECM monitors a voltage drop when the injector should be closed, it interprets this as a short to ground or a failed solenoid coil internally within the injector.
Possible Causes
Faulty fuel injector cylinder 8 (internal short circuit)
Wiring harness damage (shorted to ground)
Corroded or damaged injector electrical connector
Internal Engine Control Unit (ECU) fault

Mechanic's Tip
Before replacing expensive components, always double-check wiring and connections. 80% of all sensor faults are actually due to corroded contacts or broken wires.
