Technical Description
P0283 diagnostic trouble code (DTC) signifies that the Engine Control Module (ECM) has detected a high voltage condition within the fuel injector control circuit for cylinder number 8. Typically, the ECM monitors the voltage drop across the injector. If the voltage remains near battery levels when the driver is commanded 'ON', or exceeds a specific threshold, this code is triggered. This usually points to a short to voltage in the wiring harness or an internal high-resistance/shorted condition within the injector solenoid itself. This fault will impact fuel trim and exhaust emissions, potentially causing the ECM to disable the injector and enter a limp-home mode for that cylinder.

- Circuit Integrity Test: Test for short to voltage on the control wire with the ignition ON. Use a NOID light to verify if the ECM is pulsing the injector correctly.
- Replacement: If the injector fails the resistance test, replace it. If wiring and injector are okay, the ECM driver may be faulty, requiring further specialized diagnostics.
