Technical Description
P028C is set when the Engine Control Module (ECM) detects an abnormally high voltage within the fuel injector circuit for cylinder 10. This typically indicates a short to battery voltage (B+) in the wiring harness or an internal fault within the injector coil itself. The ECM monitors current flow and voltage drops during the injection cycle. If the voltage remains high when the injector should be grounded or closed, the diagnostic logic triggers the fault. This will likely result in a cylinder misfire or the ECM disabling the injector to prevent engine damage or emission component failure.
Possible Causes
Short to battery voltage (B+) in the injector 10 wiring harness
Defective fuel injector (internal short circuit)
Corroded or damaged connector pins
Internal failure in the Engine Control Module (ECM)

Mechanic's Tip
Before replacing expensive components, always double-check wiring and connections. 80% of all sensor faults are actually due to corroded contacts or broken wires.
