Technical Description
The P028D code is set when the Engine Control Module (ECM) detects a high voltage signal from the fuel injector circuit for cylinder 10. This typically signifies a short to voltage in the wiring harness or an internal electrical failure within the injector itself. In high-cylinder count engines (V10/V12), the ECM may disable the entire bank of cylinders to protect the emission system, resulting in a significantly reduced power output (Limp mode).
Possible Causes
Short to voltage in the wiring harness for injector 10
Faulty fuel injector (internal electrical failure)
Corroded or loose connector at the injector
Faulty injector driver circuit in the ECU

Mechanic's Tip
Before replacing expensive components, always double-check wiring and connections. 80% of all sensor faults are actually due to corroded contacts or broken wires.
