P029A - Cylinder 1 Fuel Trim at Max Limit

Technical Description
P029A is stored when the Engine Control Unit (ECU) has reached its maximum adaptive fuel trim limit for cylinder 1. This indicates that the ECU is attempting to compensate for an extremely lean condition (too much air or too little fuel) by increasing injector pulse width, but has reached the calibrated threshold without achieving the target lambda. The system monitors oxygen sensor feedback and crankshaft speed fluctuations (cylinder contribution) to isolate the fault to cylinder 1.
Possible Causes
Clogged or faulty fuel injector on cylinder 1.
Vacuum leak / intake air leak specific to cylinder 1 runner or faulty injector O-ring.
Faulty spark plug, ignition coil, or low engine compression (resulting in incomplete combustion interpreted as lean).
Wiring harness fault or poor connection at the fuel injector connector.

Mechanic's Tip
Before replacing expensive components, always double-check wiring and connections. 80% of all sensor faults are actually due to corroded contacts or broken wires.
