Technical Description
The P02A0 fault code is triggered when the Engine Control Unit (ECU) detects that Cylinder 2 has reached its maximum correction limit for fuel enrichment. The system monitors that the cylinder is running too rich, indicating that the fuel injector is leaking or not closing properly. The ECU attempts to compensate by reducing the injector pulse width (duty cycle), but when the correction exceeds calibrated limits to maintain the desired lambda/air-fuel ratio, the code is set. This affects emission control systems, including catalyst efficiency and NOx-aftertreatment.
Possible Causes
Defective or dirty fuel injector (leaking) on cylinder 2
Wiring or connector issue at injector 2 (short to ground)
Faulty oxygen sensor (Lambda) or Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor data
Internal engine mechanical fault (e.g., poor compression) or faulty ECU

Mechanic's Tip
Before replacing expensive components, always double-check wiring and connections. 80% of all sensor faults are actually due to corroded contacts or broken wires.
