P02C0 - Cylinder 9 – Fuel Injector Offset Learning At Max Limit

Technical Description
The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P02C0 is set when the Engine Control Module (ECM) reaches its maximum compensation limit for fuel delivery to cylinder 9. The ECM monitors crankshaft speed variations to determine the contribution of each cylinder. If a cylinder under-performs, the ECM increases the fuel injector pulse width (offset learning) to balance the engine. When the ECM reaches the software-defined maximum adjustment limit and can no longer compensate for the lean condition or lack of power in that specific cylinder, P02C0 is triggered.
Possible Causes
Clogged or restricted fuel injector (Cylinder 9)
Incorrect injector calibration code (IQA/IMA) programmed in the ECM
Air leak at the intake manifold or injector seal for cylinder 9
Mechanical engine fault such as low compression or worn camshaft lobe
Faulty wiring or high resistance in the injector circuit

Mechanic's Tip
Before replacing expensive components, always double-check wiring and connections. 80% of all sensor faults are actually due to corroded contacts or broken wires.
