Technical Description
P02D1 is set when the Engine Control Unit (ECU) reaches its maximum calibration limit for fuel injector offset on cylinder 3. The ECU monitors crankshaft speed fluctuations to determine individual cylinder contribution. If the injector requires an excessive adjustment in pulse width to maintain stoichiometric balance or target torque, and exceeds the mapped threshold, the code is stored. This typically indicates a failing injector, fuel rail pressure issues, or mechanical cylinder wear affecting combustion efficiency.
Possible Causes
Faulty or clogged fuel injector for cylinder 3
Leaking injector seals or copper washers
High resistance in the injector wiring harness or connector oxidation
Low engine compression on cylinder 3 or faulty fuel rail pressure sensor

Mechanic's Tip
Before replacing expensive components, always double-check wiring and connections. 80% of all sensor faults are actually due to corroded contacts or broken wires.
