Technical Description
P02DC is a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) indicating that the Engine Control Unit (ECU) has reached its maximum correction limit for the fuel injector on cylinder 1. The ECU monitors injector performance by analyzing crankshaft acceleration fluctuations. If an injector is restricted or failing, providing less fuel than commanded, the ECU increases the injector pulse width (duty cycle) to compensate. When this adaptive learning value hits the upper calibrated threshold, P02DC is stored. This condition often results in a lean-burn scenario, potentially increasing NOx emissions and causing cylinder imbalance.
Possible Causes
Clogged or contaminated fuel injector (Cylinder 1)
Worn injector with poor spray pattern or mechanically sticking needle
Low fuel rail pressure or intake manifold air leak (isolated to cyl 1)
Faulty injector wiring or poor ground connection at the ECU connector

Mechanic's Tip
Before replacing expensive components, always double-check wiring and connections. 80% of all sensor faults are actually due to corroded contacts or broken wires.
