Technical Description
P02E2 is stored when the Engine Control Module (ECM) detects a low voltage condition in the Diesel Intake Air Flow (DIAF) control circuit. The DIAF valve is an electronically controlled throttle plate used to manage manifold vacuum for EGR operation and smooth engine shutdown. The ECM monitors the feedback signal or the current draw of the actuator. A 'Circuit Low' signal typically points towards a short to ground or an open circuit in the wiring harness or the actuator motor itself. This fault can lead to issues with DPF regeneration and emissions compliance.

Faulty Intake Air Flow (IAF) control valve/motor
Wiring harness issue (short to ground in signal or supply line)
Corroded or damaged connector pins
Internal ECM hardware failure

Recommended Solution
- Visual Inspection: Check wiring harness and the connector at the intake throttle body for chafing, pins backing out, or corrosion.
- Voltage Check: Test for power supply at the actuator connector with the ignition ON. Check for 12V or 5V (refer to service manual). Verify ground integrity.
- Resistance Test: With the actuator disconnected, measure the resistance of the motor/solenoid. Compare with manufacturer specs (typically 5-20 Ohms). Infinite resistance indicates an open circuit.
- Bi-directional Test: Use a scan tool to perform a commanded actuator test. Monitor feedback signals and observe physical movement of the butterfly valve.
- Component Replacement: If wiring is verified and the actuator fails electrical tests, replace the Intake Air Flow control valve.
