Technical Description
P02EE is triggered when the Engine Control Module (ECM) detects that the fuel injector for cylinder 1 is performing outside of its calibrated specifications. The ECM monitors fuel trim values and crankshaft speed fluctuations (misfire detection logic) to evaluate injector efficiency. If the injector delivery deviates significantly, or if the electrical signature (current ramp) is inconsistent, this code is stored. This often points to a mechanical restriction, a leaking nozzle, or a failing solenoid within the injector assembly. This failure directly impacts emissions, specifically NOx levels, due to imbalanced combustion.
Possible Causes
Clogged or dirty fuel injector (Cylinder 1)
Faulty fuel injector (internal mechanical or electrical failure)
Wiring harness chafing or poor connection at the injector plug
ECM software issue or fuel rail pressure sensor deviation

Mechanic's Tip
Before replacing expensive components, always double-check wiring and connections. 80% of all sensor faults are actually due to corroded contacts or broken wires.
