Technical Description
P02F8 indicates that the Engine Control Unit (ECU) has reached its maximum or minimum limit for adaptive fuel trim compensation (offset learning) for the cylinder 4 fuel injector. The ECU monitors crankshaft acceleration variations to ensure each cylinder contributes equally. When the injector's performance deviates beyond pre-defined limits—due to electrical resistance changes or mechanical wear—the ECU can no longer compensate for the delivery volume, and the DTC is stored. This often relates to the injector's ability to respond to very short injection pulses (IMA/ISA coding).
Possible Causes
Fuel injector cylinder 4 is clogged or mechanically worn
Incorrect IMA/ISA injector coding in the ECU
High resistance in wiring or connectors (oxidation)
Low fuel rail pressure or contaminated fuel

Mechanic's Tip
Before replacing expensive components, always double-check wiring and connections. 80% of all sensor faults are actually due to corroded contacts or broken wires.
