Technical Description
P0335 is an OBD-II generic code indicating that the Engine Control Unit (ECU) has detected a malfunction in the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor 'A' circuit. The CKP sensor monitors the engine's RPM and the precise position of the crankshaft for ignition timing and fuel injection synchronization. The ECU monitors the signal for frequency and amplitude. If the signal is interrupted, inconsistent, or non-existent during cranking or running, the code is triggered. This fault often leads to a 'no-start' condition or an immediate engine stall as the ECU loses its primary timing reference.
Possible Causes
Faulty Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor
Damaged wiring harness or corroded connectors at the sensor
Damaged or misaligned reluctor ring (tone wheel)
Faulty Engine Control Unit (ECU) or incorrect air gap between sensor and wheel

Mechanic's Tip
Before replacing expensive components, always double-check wiring and connections. 80% of all sensor faults are actually due to corroded contacts or broken wires.
