Technical Description
P0347 indicates that the Engine Control Module (ECM/PCM) has detected a voltage signal from the Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor 'A' on Bank 2 that is lower than the expected range (typically near ground). Bank 2 is the bank of cylinders that does not contain cylinder #1. This sensor provides critical timing information for fuel injection, ignition sparking, and Variable Valve Timing (VVT) systems via a Hall-effect or variable reluctance signal. A 'Circuit Low' fault typically suggests a short to ground in the signal wire or an internal sensor failure.
Possible Causes
Defective Camshaft Position Sensor (internal short)
Wiring harness shorted to ground in the signal circuit
Corroded or damaged connector at the sensor
Improperly installed sensor or damaged tone ring (reluctor)
Internal Engine Control Module (ECM) fault

Mechanic's Tip
Before replacing expensive components, always double-check wiring and connections. 80% of all sensor faults are actually due to corroded contacts or broken wires.
