Technical Description
P0348 is set when the Engine Control Unit (ECU) detects an abnormally high voltage signal from the Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor 'A' on Bank 2. This usually indicates that the signal circuit is shorted to voltage or there is an open ground circuit. The CMP sensor provides critical timing data for fuel injection and ignition spark. A 'High Input' condition prevents the ECU from correctly identifying the engine cycle position, often leading to a fallback to crankshaft-only timing or limp mode.
Possible Causes
Faulty camshaft position sensor (internal short)
Short to voltage in the sensor signal wiring
Open circuit in the sensor ground wire
Reluctor ring/tone wheel damage or misalignment
Internal Engine Control Unit (ECU) failure

Mechanic's Tip
Before replacing expensive components, always double-check wiring and connections. 80% of all sensor faults are actually due to corroded contacts or broken wires.
